Pack News

After disappearance of Backster, Trance has followed in her mate's paw-steps and their scent is lost in the scent of the distant ocean air. Ambrosia has taken over the pack and is currently accepting newcomers.

Loners are free and without a care in the world...well except for food and predators.
♀ 1 & ♂ 0 → 1

Being kicked from their pack, they may seek out a new pack. However other packs will be reluctant to accept such a wolf in their pack. Except for perhaps Crimson Hollows.

Once the pups turn 3 months they try, paws on, ranks. Once they turn 4 months and able to train in once certain rank. All will wake up to items in their nests or dens. For example a piece of medal they find in their bedding they will be trained as Black-smith's.

3 Month Old Pup Test Program Click to see!:

Once a pup reaches 3 months, they will be taken by the Hāpai to observe the ranks they are eligible to become; (Uncommon) Kowal, (some-what rare) Kōkua,  (Less Common) Akamai, (Common) Koa, and rarely Hāpai(Very Rare, usually only given if the pup asks to become this).

They will be taken daily to observe each and every rank eligible, a day or two (at most a week) usually if the pup really likes or is very interested in that rank. They will get paws on learning on the second day. The first day is simply to watch, listen to the wolf talk about it's rank, explore their den, and what they do daily.

They can be taken in any order the Hāpai wants, or if the Hāpai let's the pup choose.

When the pup is two days away from turning 4 months old. They get to choose what rank they really want to be in. This will also determine their last day as a Keiki, which they get to choose what rank they want to hang out with and how. Basically the Hāpai can go back to doing what ever he/she wants to do, or walk along with the Keiki.

The Hāpai will then report at the end of the day to the Kahu, telling him/her what they have observed from the pup. Saying which rank the Keiki wants, what rank he/she thinks they will excel/do-good-in, as well as a review of what the Keiki was like (Personality) around the ranks and stuff.

"Now go to sleep little Keiki, for when you awake a surprise will be left under you. And for when you awake that surprise will show your future."

The common phrase the pup's mother or Hāpai will say to him/her before they go to sleep.

This below is for 4 month old pups +

Items and what they stand for:

Coal/Metal/Black Leaf- Kowal (black-smith) (make sure it isn't hot!)
Herb/Plant/Green Leaf- Kōkua (healer)
Feather/Yellow Leaf- Akamai (scout)
Fur/Orange or Red Leaf- Koa (warrior)

Once they get their destined gift left in their nest or den. They should either be excited or disappointed. Even so one gift left behind that confuses youngsters is a small dead carcass of prey. This means that they will be trained as a Koa but primarily for that of hunting.

There isn't a rank dedicated simply for hunting because the Koa hunt for small prey or join hunting parties when a hunt is in order. Which is usually assigned by the Kahu or the Kahuna.

Once the pup is ready he/she will go out of their den with their destined gifts. Trading items is very bad taboo, considering that the Mālama will most likely tell the Kahu. If not then the wolf could be kicked from the pack for disrespecting tradition(going against it), which could get the Kolohe killed or he/she might have a harder time trying to get their rank right. The pup may however never be able to become a lead-ranker(Luna), get kicked from the pack at the age of one, and most likely be placed as a Lalo(Punished).

Once the pup comes from it's den it will eat and freshen up for his/her ceremony. In which the Hāpai will help the pup add markings onto it's coat, or add things to his/her pelt(accessories) to match it's new rank color. No one is to see the pups except their designers and the Kahu (as well as beta) who will call the pup in a meeting.

Click to see rank color designs and such:

Black= Kowal (black-smith)
Green=  Kōkua (healer)
Yellow= Akamai (scout)
Orange or/and Red= Koa (warrior)
Fur(from other animals) and/or dead prey= Koa→hunter (Warrior trained for hunting primary)

These colors can come about in anyway. Making markings (can be permanent but most likely will wash off unless the pup wants it to stay) and adding accessories of almost anything that is of the color. Which could be bird feathers, leaves, flowers, rocks, plants, etc. Even dyed fur could work, as long as it isn't the normal color of the dead animal. The Koa trained mostly for hunting could also make bracelets, necklaces, and such of animal bones even that of skulls.

The Kahu will give a speech, to start off this ceremony, about the pup and what rank he/she will be training in. Then the leader will call a name this wolf called will be the teacher or Kuma of the pup. This is considered a great honor because if one where to become a lead-ranker then one would need to train at least one pup. This is also a good indication that you have been noticed doing great at your rank and you may soon be picked as a lead-ranker, however not all the time this is true so don't get your hopes too high.

Once the pup has been seen and has it's new mentor, they will greet each other and he/she will show his/her new apprentice where they will be sleeping. After all a new nest was made while the pup was getting ready by his/her mother or father (as well as a foster parent or adoptive, etc.).

Now the celebrate will begin, the pack will fill full of excitement and energy. They will howl and play, as if it is a big party. Their should be lots of food and treats(usually made by healers) about, games could be played. Everyone will congratulate the new Kolohe and the new Kuma. There is also a berry drink that only the adults could drink(gets them drunk o.O), however not every Kahu allows this drink to be made.

After the party a vigil will have to be kept from all the Kolohes in which they have to stay awake and keep quiet until sunrise. Once everyone begins to awake they can then go to sleep and be awake the next day for there first day of training. Everyone but the Kōkua have to do this as well as the Hāpai.

The Kowal are to keep a fire going all night and see to it that it keeps burning until sunrise.

Koas are simply to keep watch.

Akamai are to watch from the trees and to stay awake as well. If one where to fall asleep in the trees he/she might fall from the tree and get injured.
